Bunnies and kitties are probably the best candidates for this, assuming we're moving to an animal character for a logo. Also, it doesn't necessarily have to be a specific animal. The drupal logo is probably a water drop or something, but it really is just a cute little guy that you instantly know means drupal. This is maybe what we should shoot for with aether.
Maybe it's just how I'm including them. They don't work with the <img/> tag but FF can display them when you're looking at just the file itself. This makes me think you'd need to embed the svg tags directly into the document, which I don't know how we can do that with drupal. I'll keep playing.
Well, there goes getting any research done today. I'm gonna draw me a bunny! Haha, saying Æther bunny makes me laugh.
"Oh hai cute widdwe ether bunny, u havs eny candee for meh? If no iz gunna eet u!"
Any other animal requests?
Æther bunny will eat you! A little character might be fun too. You're more creative than I am, so play around and make something you like! The character idea will also probably make it easier to make a favicon.
I'm good with this one too. It has the right color scheme ootb and the page hardware isn't too intrusive. Maybe if I change the logo to have shades of blue that match this scheme it will look better. Of course, we could just make the logo something distinctive like a cute little blue bunny or something instead of trying to be clever. We'd call her Dominique the Aether Bunny.
Wait, I lied. I forgot to checkout bluebreeze, the current one now. I like this one more than salamander if we were to modify the colors a bit. I'm leaving it on bluebreeze for now, change back to salamander or others if you want to check them out.
I installed the themes you listed. Currently it's set to salamander, my top pick of the ones you listed above.
One requirement I feel very strongly about is having a fluid layout rather than a fixed width theme. I abhor fixed width web pages, why do people think these are a good idea?
I think that if we modify salamander a bit I'd be pretty happy with it. The top space for the logo is a big to large for my tastes, and the border around the edge is a bit too large, but that can be fixed pretty easily in a few minutes I'm guessing.
I'll install these after I get back from my run this morning.
I know a lot of the themes (including the current one) lets you customize the color scheme, so I think when we search for the themes we should really just be looking at layout rather than colors. If you can't change colors in the web interface, I'm sure I can just edit the theme files and do it that way.
It does look somewhat unprofessional, but we're not graphic designers after all. I agree with the making two logos point though.
SVGs should just work in FF. I'm not sure why they wouldn't. Maybe I'm completely insane and I haven't worked with them like I think I have...
Yeah, the comments are kina difficult, but I do like the '1 new comment' stuff so that I know when a new comment was added. It should have that in WP too.
I was playing with a prism idea when I made this guy, but I think it still looks a little amaturish. Maybe it's the colors. I made two because I think we have to have one of the logos with the full name spelled out and another just for recognition. The 'ther' rasterized poorly, I'll see what I can do about that. I'll keep playing with it, but I'm going to stick with the AE theme thing.
I haven't been able to get Firefox to display svgs inline in pages, do you know how to do that?
On a separate note, I'm finding the comments on these pages pretty hard to parse. The skin we find should make it clearer what's going on.
I like the logo. It is nice to have the sweet Æ symbol. The three colors being combined into Aether is good too. It shows that we can take many types of input into Aether and produce something good out of it. I think I like the second 'smaller' one better. If that one had the three colors being combined it would be great.
The permissions were not checked in the upload module category, so I checked those. I don't know where to do this, but you should have permissions now.
I enabled the upload module but I can't find a way to upload content. I read somewhere that users have to have upload capabilities enabled in user management but I don't appear to have access to that part of the site. Can you take a look?

I've added a main menu to the site, though the links simply link to the front page for now. If you think of more sections, add them.
